Step 1: add up your bay
Measure each section of the bay and multiply width by height. Add the sections together for the total area in m². Our bay window measuring planner does this for you and prints a sheet for your installer.
Step 2: apply the per m² range
| Material | Indicative £ per m² (fitted) |
|---|---|
| MDF / vinyl | £250–£350 |
| Faux wood / composite | £290–£400 |
| Hardwood | £330–£550 |
Worked example (our method)
A three-section bay with a 100 cm centre and two 50 cm sides, all 150 cm tall, is 1.5 + 0.75 + 0.75 = 3.0 m². At the ranges above that's about £750–£1050 in MDF or £990–£1650 in hardwood, before any extra for the bay itself.
Why bays can cost more
- Trims, battens and posts are often needed where sections meet at an angle.
- More panels and hinges than a flat window of the same width.
- Tier-on-tier is popular for bays with sash windows and tends to cost more than full height.
Because these extras vary so much between installers, we don't add a fixed percentage. A survey is the only way to get an exact price.
