Worked example
A standard window 120 cm wide × 150 cm tall is 1.8 m². At the ranges above that's roughly £450–£630 in MDF, or £594–£990 in hardwood.
What affects the price
- Material – hardwood and composite cost more than MDF.
- Size and shape – larger, bay or shaped windows cost more.
- Style – tier-on-tier and tracked shutters tend to cost more due to extra panels and hardware.
- Fitting complexity – difficult access or large openings.
- DIY vs fitted – supply-only is cheaper but you take on measuring and fitting risk.
